West Bengal have been marred by incidents of violence and factionalism, especially in the Coochbehar district. After a meeting with Abhishek Banerjee, the ballot boxes were vandalized in Sahebganj of Dinhata assembly constituency and Gosanimari of Sitai assembly constituency, leading to a fight between two groups.

The situation further escalated at Shikarpur and Pachgarh polling stations of Mathabhanga, where tension has arisen again. The Trinamool Congress president of Shikarpur left the polling booth without casting his vote, adding to the chaos.

Meanwhile, voting had to be stopped at the Mekhliganj assembly hall due to infighting within the Trinamool Congress. The situation has raised concerns about the party's ability to maintain unity, especially in the face of the BJP, which has made inroads in the traditionally Trinamool stronghold of Coochbehar.
